Terms of use
Last updated: 14 October 2026
These terms apply to the Jacteur application and to the website jacteur.com. By installing or using Jacteur, you accept them.
The service
Jacteur is a desktop voice dictation application. It turns your voice into text, cleans that text up and types it into the application you are using. If you choose to, it can also create events and tasks in third-party services: Google Calendar, Google Tasks, Todoist and CalDAV calendars.
Jacteur is in beta. Features may change, be interrupted or be removed, and errors may remain.
Publisher and contact
Jacteur and the website jacteur.com are published by Jacteur. Contact: contact@jacteur.com.
What you need
Jacteur relies on services you choose to connect: an OpenAI API key for transcription and, depending on your needs, a Google, Todoist or CalDAV account. You remain bound by the terms of those services and bear any costs they charge. Keep your keys and tokens to yourself: they are stored on your computer and you are responsible for them.
Acceptable use
You may use Jacteur for personal or professional purposes. You agree not to:
- use it to record or transcribe other people without their consent;
- use it in a way that breaks the law or the terms of the connected services;
- work around the usage limits of a plan, or resell access to the service.
Your content
What you dictate and the text produced belong to you. We claim no rights over them and have no access to them. How data is handled is described in the privacy policy.
Accuracy of results
Transcription and correction are produced by artificial intelligence models. They can contain mistakes: a misheard word, a wrong figure or proper noun, a misread date. Proofread important text and check the events and tasks created before relying on them.
Plans and pricing
Jacteur offers a free plan. The paid plans shown on the website are not yet on sale: no payment is collected today. Their terms (price, billing, cancellation, right of withdrawal) will be published here before they launch.
Intellectual property
The application, the website, and the Jacteur name and logo are protected. You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use them. Google Calendar and Google Tasks are trademarks of Google LLC; Jacteur is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.
Liability
Jacteur is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages, nor for the consequences of a transcription error, of an event or task created incorrectly, or of a third-party service being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law grants to consumers.
Stopping your use of Jacteur
You can stop using Jacteur at any time by uninstalling it. The privacy policy explains how to remove access to your Google Account and erase the data stored on your computer.
Changes to these terms
These terms may change. The date at the top of the page shows the last update; significant changes are announced on the website or in the application.
Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. Failing an amicable settlement, French courts have jurisdiction, subject to the protective rules that apply to consumers.
